Ballerina Dreaming
Dance Camp 3-6 year olds:Tutus, wands, tiaras, story-books, dance classes, imagination, music 9:30am-3:30pm (bring snacks, lunch and drink each day)

Hip Hopping Pop Star Camp 7-12 year olds:This dance camp is for the hippest kids you know. Pop music, cool choreography, crazy props… This is one week of high-energy fun!!  9:30am-3:30pm (bring snacks, lunch and drink each day)

Designed to begin the true joy of dance for the littlest dancers (boys and girls), this one-hour weekly class consists of a combination of dance genres taught during each class. The basics are taught in tap and ballet technique. Children explore dance through movement, music and narrative. Children are encouraged to use imagination and explore Musicality through creative movement. 12 students Max per class.

    This 30 minute weekly class introduces our 4 – 5 year old dancers to basic hip hop technique for the preschool aged dancer (boys and girls). Building strength & learning style while studying hip choreography will challenge the preschool aged dancer in an exciting, high-energy, child-friendly atmosphere. 12 students max per class. Students wear sneakers and LDC black logo’d shirt. Musicality and style are developed further in this class. Strongly suggest that these students enroll in 1-hour tap/ballet.

    This hour and a half weekly class continues to develop ballet and tap technique at the barre and center floor. Jazz is taught at this level as well. Dancers (boys and girls) will explore traditional jazz, lyrical jazz and hip-hop styles. (Red Leotard)

    7-8.5 yrs. Tap/Ballet/Jazz Combination

    This hour and a half weekly class continues to develop ballet and tap technique at the barre and center floor. Jazz is taught at this level as well. Dancers (boys and girls) will explore traditional jazz, lyrical jazz and hip-hop styles. (Green Leotard)

    6-8 yrs. Ballet A (1st, 2nd, 3rd Grade)

    This hour  beginning ballet class will teach the positive benefits are associated with learning the art of ballet including skill, grace, poise, self discipline and self confidence. You will begin by learning the rules and traditional techniques of ballet which have been handed down over the centuries. The dancers will slowly transition to Barre and Center-floor combinations will challenge the dancers while instilling grace and coordination. Dancers will learn Variations such as the Nutcracker’s Clara Doll Dance & Four Little Swans. DRESS CODE…BLACK LEOTARD, PINK TIGHTS.

    1-2 Student has trained 2 years or less in a particular discipline (Completed training means one-hour classes; this wouldn’t include combination classes or 6-8 year old classes).
    3-4 Student has completed at least 2 years of training in a particular discipline (Completed training means one-hour classes; this wouldn’t include combination classes or 6-8 year old classes).

     

    Ballet Level B 1234 (9-11yrs 4th – 6th grade)

    This 90 minute ballet class focuses on technique, strength and aesthetics. Barre and Center-floor combinations will challenge the dancers while instilling grace and coordination. Barre and Center-floor combinations will challenge as the faculty continues to guide students in proper positioning, body alignment and technical knowledge. Students at this level focus on increased center floor work, particularly in the areas of petite allegro and pirouettes. 18-22 students per class.

Students will explore traditional jazz and lyrical/contemporary jazz styles. This is the recommended class for the dancer who is preparing for Drill Team.

    Jazz/Lyrical C3-4 (7th grade & up 12 yrs & up)

    Lyrical dance is a style of dance created from the fusion of ballet with jazz and contemporary dance techniques and  is performed to music with lyrics to inspire movements to express strong emotions the choreographer feels from the lyrics in the chosen song.Because lyrical dancing focuses on the expression of strong emotion, the style concentrates more on individual approach and expressiveness than the precision of the dancer’s movements.

    Street Jazz C1,2,3,&4 (7th grade & up 12 yrs & up)

    Improvisational in nature, street jazz dance stems from modern-day dance styles, like hip hop dance. The fluid movements of hip hop are found in the street jazz dance culture.  Often, street dance encourages dancers to interact with other dancers and even the audience. Street jazz dance emerged from an amalgamation of modern dance styles that were performed in nontraditional settings.

    Lyrical B 1,2,3 & 4 (9-11yrs 4th – 6th grade)

    This one hour class focuses on the fusion of ballet and jazz styles. Lyrical interprets the music in an emotionally expressive way. Increasingly popular in the last few decades, lyrical dance is commonly danced to music of any style, including hip-hop, rock, swing, pop, or classical. This year this class will be merging modern dance with lyrical technique by also teaching Contemporary as part of the class.

    Modern C 1,2,3 & 4 (12yrs & up, 7th grade & up)

    Born in the early 20th century, modern dance is a dance style that focuses on a dancer’s own interpretations instead of structured steps, as in traditional ballet dancing. Modern dancers reject the limitations of classical ballet and favor movements derived from the expression of their inner feelings.

    In terms of the focus of its technique, contemporary dance tends to combine the strong and controlled legwork of ballet with modern dance’s stress on the torso, and also employs contract-release, floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation characteristic of modern dance

    Progressions Classes allow the developing dancer to focus on technical development outside of her weekly  Contemporary, Jazz, Tap and Ballet classes. Stretch, Balance and Strength Development, Turns, Leaps & Concentration are all taught in this 1 hour class.

    Yoga (9 yrs. old & Up)

    The body’s center is axis from which all movements begin and end. Yoga enables dancers to improve and maintain balance and control. This class will give the dancer the advantage of the core strength used when dancers are performing big leaps that look elegant as well as pirouetting across the dance floor with ease and grace.

    This 30-minute class will include Various methods of flexibility exercise and stretching with the purpose of improving performance as well as preventing injury.  Flexibility is typically defined as the range of motion available around a joint, specifically cover the area of dynamic flexibility and warm-up.

    FitBarre (9 yrs. old & Up)

    A 60 minute, high energy/no impact exercise class that combines barre work and light weights with continual fat burning motion. This class is designed to develop long, lean muscles without bulk. Barre (RE)defined is a workout to sculpt the often desired “dancer body”. Graceful ballet inspired exercises that incorporate core stability, strength training, and flexibility… Be ready to sweat!

SUMMER INTENSIVE

Monday June 19- Friday June 23

Nine (9) years & up Dance intensives are $400 per 5 day session  (9:30 -4:30pm) or $90 a day.

6 to 8 Petite Dance workshops are $290 per 5 day session(9:30 – 2:30pm or $60 a day.
